Regiftable Blog

Chances are you have either given or been given a regift. In fact, whether you are a fan or foe, regifting has become a phenomenon.

Since the folks at Money Management International are givers, we wanted to share some of our thoughts about holiday gifting. In addition to gifting, we’ll cover a variety of ways consumers can keep their budgets (and sanity!) in tact. We also invite you to share your thoughts, opinions, and ideas about holiday spending.

UPS and PayPal jump on the regifting bandwagon
Posted by Kim McGrigg on 12/4/2008
Because I am such a giver, I wanted to let you know about some ?other? fun regifting campaigns. This year, both UPS and PayPal launched Internet-based promotions that focus on regifting.

UPS?s new Web site allows you to send your friends and family members a virtual regift. Visitors can select their regift from a wide variety of items including a nose hair trimmer, a knitted tea cozy, and cheesy tie. You can also watch a video explaining the concept of regifting (although if you are reading this blog, you are already well versed in the concept!)

PayPal is promoting a Facebook application called Regift the Fruitcake. They are lucky enough to have real celebrities (sorry to break it to you, but Regifting Robin isn?t real) who are passing along virtual fruitcakes to raise money for their charities. People who get the regifted fruitcakes have the opportunity to donate to their charity and the privilege of deciding which of their ten friends will get it next. The nice people at PayPal have already donated $20,000 to each charity to start the fundraising effort.

In case you are wondering, it is perfectly legitimate for you to share a virtual regifting story on this site. You might even win a non-virtual (aka real) prize!
