Regifting a gag gift
By: Christy N.
From: Social Circle, GA

For Christmas each year at my grandparents house we always regifted a gag gift to one family. It was usually something like a toy car or a jock strap-something funny that would apply to that person. This past Christmas we decided to adopt that fun with my mom's family and we regifted a pair of unusual men's underwear. It was a lot of fun!

Mr.Tharp

My friend Rick Tharp possessed a kind of quiet, intelligent humor that is so rare. One year, about 5-6 years ago, I received a holiday card from "Mr. Tharp" that was, as it turned out, the exact same card I had sent him the year before (I mean the same physical item)...BUT he had placed a stamp on the front of it that said:

"Life is tough, times are hard, here's your last year's Christmas card."

He'd apparently saved all of the cards he got one year and "re-carded" them to their original senders the next.

The inimitable Mr. Tharp is no longer with us, and he is sorely missed.

Christmas cards

I use past Christmas cards for Christmas gift tags. I have a hard time throwing the beautiful Christmas cards away when Christmas is over....so I save the whole card and then at Christmas time , as I am wrapping gifts, I drag them out, reread the cards , cut off the personal notes and use them as "tags" for gifts under the Christmas tree! I pick out ones that match the wrapping paper and the person. Sometimes I'll cut out just a figure in the card or if I don't want to use the whole card because it is too big.
I have even used cards as wrapping paper and covered the huge box in old cards. This slows down the process of people tearing through gifts Christmas morning! One works so hard to put a great Christmas morning together--then it's over in a heartbeat as kids (and adults) tear through their gifts!

Used and OLD Cards
By: Traciann D.

When I started in the work field money was super tight. I worked at a dental office and at Christmas time we would get magazines advertising cards. They always came with a sample card inside. The cards were really nice except for the inside where it stated "print your name here". So one year I mailed it to my mother for Christmas. She thought it was hillarious. Shortly after my Nana gave me a box of REALLY OLD card that she never used. Honestly the cards were hidious, the envelopes were yellowing, they smelled like old paper and of course I was thrilled. That was the next card I sent out to my mom. My sister was a victim the year my brother didn't show up for his birthday. I reused his card for her. Since that time we reuse cards between myself, my mom, my sister and my aunt until we can no longer write on them. We alter the words if needed and even send it out with coffee stains! It has made getting a card even more fun as we never know what is coming and it doesn't cost us

the apple tree

well my employer gives plants for Easter instead of something for Christmas. i dont have any room for plants so when i take my plants i know they will be given to someone else. i live in a condo with no access to water for the plants but do have a porch. i dont have the muscle to get water out to the porch either. as i dont make much money from my employer i have always looked at this as a help for me to bless someone else.
well he found out that i was going to give the plants away and he and the office manager become a bit upset to say the least. well the plants came in the house and over the next 3 days those same plants went OUT of the house to 2 very dear friends.
now there were 2 trees still not claimed as gifts. guess who has an apple tree on her porch??
i am planning on regifting the teee tomorrow. but the boss will ask probably how the apples are.

Ok well for last Christmas I recieved one of those little digital picture key chain things. So i took it and downloaded a bunch of picture on it. Well soon enough April came and my mothers birthday was coming up, and I forgot about it. The night before my Grandma Reminds me that we are going to Texas Roadhouse for my moms birthday dinner. I felt like such a fool i forgot my own mothers biirthday gift. So i was sitting at home that night wasting my life away on Facebook when it hit me!!! To give my mom the photo key chain. So that night i found everyphoto of me and my family and loaded that sucker up to the max! The next day she recieved it infront of everybody and cried because she was so so happy but I never told anyone about what i did not even my brother who gave me money to split a gift and a card! Mom if you read this sorry but you have to admit it was a DAM good gift!! Love Ya

Turkey deep fryer

My son gave his brother a turkey deep fryer for a gift. Then within a year, he gave the turkey fryer to my son's wife without remembering that that is where he got it from. My son (regifter) has a whole shelf of regifting gifts ready to give. This is rude. Some of the packages look like they have been regifted 10 times!

I received a bottle of wine as a house warming gift. I put it in my wine rack on top of my refrigerator and it stayed there for 2 years! I decided to regift it to a friend at a Christmas party and she actually opened it to share and it was HORRIBLE!!! I was so embarrassed I have never regifted since.........

"In the Attic"
By: Katherine A.

It was my little bother's 9th birthday when my aunt and uncle sent their childern over for the party with my grandparents. My aunt and uncle were living in our old house where they were then lounging enjoying some mooched free alone time and selfishly not attending the party. At gift giving time, my brother got to the gift that the cousins brought. He opened it to reveal a "Handshake Casting Kit" with which you can creat a "super cool" statue of you and a buddy shaking hands. I thought the gift looked strangly similar to one that I had gotten years before as a gag gift. Right after my brother put a fake smile on and said " Thanks," George, the 6 year old exlaimed, "Yea, it's cool... my mom found it in the attic." If you are going to regift, atleast don't use our old junk in the attic and then not even show up to give it. PATHETIC!
